This school year, our team at Fight for $15 and Fairness UofT has fought alongside a broad network of allies in the province-wide campaign for decent work. We've actively resisted Ford's attacks on workers' through Bill 47, winning modest but incredibly important gains including a minimum wage increase from $11.60 to $14. We also saw our movement grow and expand in remarkable ways, so much so that the Trudeau government implemented #15andfairness demands for federally-regulated workers and committed to putting together a taskforce on a federal $15 minimum wage. Now, we are still sending Ford and his PC government a strong message about the dangers of Bill 66 on workers and all Ontarians.
In the midst of all this collective organizing, it's important to celebrate how far we've come, the incredible relationships we've nurtured, and reflect on how we can continue to resist attacks on our labour rights. Join us on Wednesday March 27th from 6-8 pm for an end-of-year celebration of UofT labour organizing and a discussion of next steps.
There will be food, a vegan cake with a surprise flavour, and refreshments! The Workers' Action Centre is also an accessible space.
