Toronto wide Organizing Meeting

Despite the setback with Doug Ford’s Bill 47, we protected modest but important gains for workers. But Ford's attack on workers has not stopped; with the passing of Bill 66, he's made it easier for workers to work longer yet be paid less, and made it harder for workers to learn about their rights on the job.

Meanwhile, the Federal government has taken some modest but crucial steps toward legislating $15 and Fairness for federally-regulated workers (those who work in sectors that cross provincial borders such as telecommunications, banking, airlines, shipping, transportation, and more). As of January 1, 2019, almost 900,000 federally-regulated workers across Canada will have the legislated right to three (3) paid sick days; and to equal pay for equal work for part-time, contract, and temporary workers. If the experience in Ontario is any indication, we will need to fight hard to protect and extend these wins.

Let’s build on our impressive work to date, join us on Tuesday, May 21th – and bring a friend or co-worker!
