Despite the setback with Doug Ford’s Bill 47, by mobilizing across Ontario we protected modest but important gains for workers in 2018. However, Premier Ford has now tabled Bill 66, a dangerous legislation that seeks to cut important regulations, make it harder for workers to unionize and to get proper overtime pay for duly-worked hours.

Meanwhile, the Federal government has taken some modest but crucial steps toward legislating $15 and Fairness for federally-regulated workers (those who work in sectors that cross provincial borders such as telecommunications, banking, airlines, shipping, transportation, and more). As of January 1, 2019, almost 900,000 federally-regulated workers across Canada will have the legislated right to three (3) paid sick days and to equal pay for equal work for part-time, contract, and temporary workers. If the experience in Ontario is any indication, we will need to fight hard to protect and extend these wins.

Join us on, January 15, at the first $15 & Fairness organizing meeting of the year -- and bring a friend!
