Announcing the Interim Report for Changing Workplace Review

Today, the Ministry of Labour’s Special Advisors publicly released the Changing Workplaces Review Interim Report that documents a wide array of options to address precarious work through changes to the Employment Standards Act and the Labour Relations Act. For the past year, many groups across the province, including community leaders, union members, health workers, students, temp workers and immigrant groups, have mobilized under the Fight for $15 & Fairness banner to call attention to the systemic problems in our outdated labour laws and the need for big changes.
Taking on Precarious Work
Thanks to the hard work of Fight for $15 & Fairness allies, the Advisors haveacknowledged “the fact that this Review is taking place is strong evidence of a broad societal concern over the changes that have taken place in the workplace and the fact that for many there has been a long-standing trend of deteriorating working conditions for a growing number of workers.”

Time for Urgent Action
Our communities are already well aware of the wide-spread problems with laws that leave workers unprotected.
Check out this morning’s Toronto Star article on the courageous workers who have spoken up time and time again in support of $15 & Fairness: we know the problems, we know the solutions and we know the urgent need for change.
